Review on πŸ” Jewelers Loupe 50X: Illuminated Eye Loupe Magnifier for Jewelry, Gardening, Kids, Coin, Stamp and Rock Collecting - Foldable with LED Light Case by Denise Davis

Revainrating 4 out of 5

10x not 50x but not bad for 10x

This is a pocket magnifier with light. The size of the device is about 1.5 x 2 x 1 inches. It has a built-in light source powered by three LR 1130 batteries (included). There is a switch on the bottom with settings for 2 LED white light, 1 LED UV lamp or off. The loupe is designed to be used when placed on a flat surface over the specimen and then focused by dragging the eyepiece up or down in the frame (this is not described in the instruction manual). The angle of the light source can be adjusted as the light is on a ratchet hinge. Also included is a faux vinyl sleeve and soft zippered sleeve, and a tiny plastic tool for accessing the battery compartment. There is no way to attach a cord or strap to the magnifier to wear around your neck. I think this little magnifying glass is quite good for its price range. This is a very functional 10X (NOT 50X!) magnifier that includes a light source. This allows me to see details well as long as they are in the center of the lens. Although the lens of a magnifying glass is 12mm in diameter, only the middle half or a third of it can be used without distortion, so you end up with a rather small field of view. You can't wear it around your neck, but you can easily carry it in your pocket. And if you lose it it is not a big financial loss compared to higher quality 10x loupes. In fact, compared to 10X magnifiers, this magnifier can highlight details a bit better because of the built-in light source. Note that you need a tiny, proprietary plastic tool to open the battery compartment. So if you lose it, the magnifying glass will be ready when the batteries run out. General,
