Review on SITERWELL 10 Year Photoelectric Battery GS526A by Jimmy Montalvo

I ordered this Siterwell photocell smoke alarm as an extra smoke alarm for my motor home. When unpacking, I immediately noticed that there was no 3M mounting disc shown in the description, but a few screws and dowels. Luckily I got the right size self-adhesive mounting disc from another product (which I didn't use) so I used it to mount it high up on the wall in my RV. I like having one mounted on the ceiling in front and the other mounted vertically on the back wall. I turned it on like they said and it beeped. Then I set up the standard test I always give smoke detectors. I lit two matches together, then held them to the smoke detector and blew them out. This will cause a moderate amount of smoke to enter the detector and after about 30 seconds it will start to sound VERY loud. By the way, he has a very unique signaling. Unlike the three beeps of a typical fire alarm, it produces a siren-like sound that repeats three times, over and over again. I think I would notice it much quicker than my other RV smoke alarm. It flashes red every 40 seconds to confirm it's working, but I don't find it bothersome. Actually I prefer it because then I know it still works. It's UL listed and one thing that really validates its quality is that it's allowed to be shipped to California. Many of the smoke detectors I look at online cannot ship here because they do not meet California fire safety standards. This one does and is listed on the product. Well I am very happy with this smoke alarm and I think for a 10 year old battery alarm the asking price is great! I didn't knock anything over due to the lack of a mounting plate. This is a fairly new product and anything can happen.
