The OBDII reader has a built in emission readiness mode that displays a checklist of all subsystems and any trouble codes. It also has real-time data so you can view engine RPM, O2 sensor readings and other readings. It doesn't have the SRS and ABS features found in dedicated scanners, but it's more than enough for most household jobs. The software that comes bundled with this device is a bit cheaper and the upgrade process should be easier as there are two files to download from the manufacturer's website rather than a one button solution, but overall this is a very high quality device , which can solve many problems and potentially save you a lot of money by not having to go to the mechanic all the time.
