Modder Bag - Bike Racks and Bags

This bag will be the second bag I have bought, the first bag was a gift but if I bought it myself I would seriously consider buying it for several reasons to be returned for example the staples didn't hold and the material was cheap. The new ones I have now seem to have fixed these shortcomings, they are much better finished and the clamps really work. I only choose black/green as the color, but it's safe to assume they're all made the same, except for the older grey/black version, which I'd avoid. I should point out that the first bag was the grey/black version, the cheapest version now has an upgrade to silver/black which hopefully fixed these issues if made as a black/green version I would agree . That's how it holds its shape and is quite durable, looks great on my bike, the old black/grey version actually lasted quite a while before it started cracking. I ended up sewing it together by punching holes in the pieces needed and skipping the zip ties and yes it worked for quite a while and they're still not really noticeable but they do wear out after many miles and conditions . .If you are looking for waterproof ones I am not sure about these new ones at this time, there is a liner but I would say they are waterproof at best. Just in case, I keep a few heavy plastic bags downstairs to house my valuables just in case. Anyway, the big problem I've read over and over again and had myself is that the bag hits the wheel, namely the spokes, which can cause the spokes to break, which you may or may not know , a repair is not very interesting. Another thing is that the bag ripped at the top, in my case it's because I installed it wrong. The part between the bags must be fully supported by the bike rack from front to back and side to side. So if you don't have the right carrier, you're more likely to get into trouble. A simple add-on/mod that works well and attaches to the frame braces. All materials needed are some repair plates, I used 5/8" x 5" and some 10-32 x 3/4 machine screws and washers, a couple of small and then large diameter washers to increase the surface area, which is important to prevent tearing. I sanded down the extra screw and smoothed out the surfaces on the inside and covered them with gorilla tape. I also used thread lock instead of lock washers just because I ran out of lock washers that size. In any case, it proves to be very durable. and keeps the bag and the straps securely on a suitable bike rack, especially when you have to carry your bike up the stairs with heavy objects in the bags like I do, works like a charm. And of course, most importantly, it holds your pocket. from hitting the wheel, at least on my bike the setup works well. A couple of photos show that it is important to align the angle with the frame part of the seat stays (ie the part from the seat tube to the rear hub). It's important to keep the power up and down, front and back. The flat surface of the plate needs to be flush with the leg or it may not work the way I did. It's best to make the first screw hole in the front corner of the bag where the straps are, so line everything up and find the best point for the plate to flex, other bikes will be slightly different. I also added some gorilla tape to the frame. Yes, I like doing things like that, maybe you can think of a better or hopefully simpler one, I think the bags last a lot longer with clips. Have fun and safe cycling.
