If the thief has a van/truck, it doesn't matter, but otherwise it's a very good deterrent. As others have described, it's not as loud as most would like and it takes a bit of practice to turn it on and off without sounding an alarm. I've practiced on/off switching several times and was able to complete it on a 2016 Ducati 1200R which has little play between the rim and disc rotor. Still managed to turn it on and off without installing it. The finishes are very good, by the way, good enough for a lock.
