Review on Sigma 50mm F1.4 Art DG HSM Lens πŸ“Έ for Canon - High-performance and Versatile Lens for Canon Cameras by Keiko Yapon ᠌

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good value for money, I recommend.

Not a clear lens. On the one hand, it shows excellent results in synthetic tests, has a good picture, and Canon has no alternatives in terms of characteristics at the moment. On the other hand, in real use, working with it gives little pleasure. I strongly advise you to separately think about its weight before buying. It is very similar to 35ku from sigma, but it is easier and therefore more pleasant to work with.

Pros
  • Good constructive, excellent sharpness right from the open, almost no HA. Ideal lens for testing.
Cons
  • But not for work. Heavy. There is a mistake in the description, it weighs not 470, but about 815 grams. After owning it for several months, I began to catch myself thinking that I didn’t want to put it on again because of its weight, although I love the focal length of 50 mm. I also think about taking an extra kilo with me when I go to the shooting. In general, it doesn't feel like you can rely on 100% autofocus accuracy, rather somewhere closer to 85%, and this is another drawback for which I gave 4 stars.
