Works very well. The tip is small and allows you to concentrate the heat in a thin strip so as not to deform the pile of plastic around the joint. I used it in a cracked washing machine drum (extremely high vibration!) and after a month it was working phenomenally. Waterproof and structurally strong. I had experience welding metal and repairing P-Tex skis and it was almost a mix of the two. Thoroughly clean the joint with a solvent compatible with your plastic, sand into a V-shape, preheat your parts if possible. with a straight nozzle and prepare the tongs to remove the hot tip and convert it into a welding tip. You have to feed the rod with one hand and mostly oil the tip. Don't pull the gun, insert the rod, keep the pressure down and it will pull itself. When it's ready to weld it should look wet and shiny but not overheated. If you have a helper, they can hit it against you with the roller while it's still slippery, but it doesn't have to be. I welded the outer seam myself at the edge with a small radius and clamped it in a vise with a round steel rod. I think of all the expensive cracked plastic items I've thrown away over the years that could easily have been salvaged, and custom projects I would never consider.
