Better than a human helper.
It's great. They allow one person to install longer portions of the crown. The human assistant tends to move the piece it's holding while these hooks allow the B end to move freely while you carefully adjust the A angle. Use drywall nails to hang the hooks and be careful when installing them because if they are set too high you will not be able to detach them from the wall. In addition, the nail must be driven in deep enough so that the hook does not slip off the nail, but not so deep that the hook is held too tightly and it is impossible to slip out of the crown.
