The quality of the yarn is sufficient for machine use in home sewing. The thread isn't very thick or perfectly even, and if I was trying to get a quality or in-demand job, I'd look elsewhere. But it works well for machine sewing cotton masks and hemming thick polyester curtains, and it also stands up to machine washing, drying and daily wear. I've tried 3-4 different coils and haven't noticed any delamination like other reviewers have. I was disappointed to find that it is not 100% cotton as the polyester component is likely to melt when the face masks are autoclaved. If it weren't a consideration I would be very happy with this as a great value starter kit with a wide range of colors to choose from.
