The Army gave me two pair of Spenco insoles in 1989. They were the greatest things that ever touched my feet. My feet refused to hurt because i wore them. They were perfectly formed for your foot and the instep was masterfully curved to hug it, but somewhere in the late 90's (can't remember the year) they changed the design. I couldn't wear them anymore because the instep design was horrible. I didn't buy anymore until last week. I wore them a couple of days this week and they seem better than the 90's redesign, but a shadow of the former Masterpiece they made in the 80's & early 90's. Why do companies try to "Improve" on things that are already perfect?
