Review on VViViD Digital Vehicle Adhesive Stretch by Ryan Sandell

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Durable but not as flexible as I was hoping. Camouflage looks authentic and great.

Used on a V.2 KLR650 to hide scratches on the plastic and also because the factory light green/glossy green color is pretty gross for an off road bike. This is the first vinyl I've done, but I'm an experienced painter etc. so I'm not a clumsy, scamp or incompetent. Looks good but takes a long time to apply, stretches around and around curves, no bubbles or wrinkles. On the other hand, it's a very thick material and I'm sure it will prove to be very durable. On the downside, that thickness/stiffness makes it difficult to rework and fold, vent, etc. Yes, I've used a heat gun on low/medium heat and it helps a lot. You really need a second pair of hands, too: one person holds and guides the heat gun while the other pulls, stretches, and straightens with both hands. I did it myself with body panels on my workbench and it wasn't easy. Camouflage pattern looks great and authentic. Reminds me of a camo uniform I bought at a surplus store as a kid (it was in the early 80's, Vietnam era surplus). It breathed new life into my 11 year old KLR for little money and a reasonable amount of effort.

Pros
  • Installs in a fraction of the time it takes to apply new paint and at a fraction of the cost. Long lifespan, up to 10 years indoors and 4-6 years outdoors.
Cons
  • Vulgarity
