Review on SHIMANO Pairs Brake Spring Resin by Jemar Lorenzo

Revainrating 5 out of 5

It's always good to have a spare set

I like that they come with springs and cotter pins and pads. This makes them a fairly "complete" Shimano disc brake service kit. (IMO a full kit comes with a set of washers that go with the bolts on almost all Shimano caliper brackets as they are cheap and small but very easy to use, not the standard hardware store washers - they are "clutch" .) I recently bought a new bike and the brakes were squeaking like crazy even though they were properly "broken in". Chain lube has probably settled on the disc and with Shimano it is almost impossible to remove it from the pad. When the topping is dirty it is easier to replace than to burn off the residue. If your pads are regularly glazing, you should simply give the discs a thorough cleaning with alcohol and put in a new set of pads. It's cheaper than the hassle of cleaning a dirty seal.

Pros
  • Excellent construction
Cons
  • Some imperfections
