Shimano Resin pads, stable and at a great price.

Genuine Shimano polymer pads at a great price. I like the bite and feel the resin liner is inferior to the sintered types. Of course they wear out faster, but at this price I change them every year and keep the last set as a reserve. I'm not a big DH rider, more of a singletrack and XC rider, so I don't have a huge overheating issue. Stable performance, both sets can be replaced in about 10 minutes, and new ones come with pad spring and cotter pins. Drive about five miles to get a good night's…

garbage fakes. Brand new pads squeak immediately after installation

I only bought new pads because the old ones squeak. I put these new pads on, clean the Brakleen rotor, let it dry, rebuild the bike. and screams just as loud. It's so loud I can't use the front brakes at all because it's deafening. My next bike will definitely not have Shimano components. As far as I know they are fake as they didn't have the original box or instructions, just a tiny zippered pouch. I don't even know if the components are legal or not.

Pros
  • Amazing
Cons
  • Protection

Original Shimano branded brake pads are a perfect match for Shimano factory brakes. Installation wasn't too difficult after watching a few tutorial videos online. These pads provide reasonably smooth (vibration-free) braking and proper function. They don't bite much and wear out in 1200 miles. Trust me I could have gotten cheaper aftermarket pads with better grip or durability but didn't want to mess with the risk of poor fit or functionality from other brands. Size/design matters, one that is…

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging

The packaging does not inspire confidence

They arrived in the packaging you see in the picture which was very worn and had a hole. The brake pads are stamped "Shimano" and have the correct part number (B01S) to make them appear genuine. However the packaging makes it look fake and it comes with 6 cotter pins when only 2 are normally supplied, one for each set of pads. I'm wondering if those are really Shimano pads or not. As another reviewer mentioned, some cotter pins are short and unlikely to work. Good that there were 6 pieces in…

It's always good to have a spare set

I like that they come with springs and cotter pins and pads. This makes them a fairly "complete" Shimano disc brake service kit. (IMO a full kit comes with a set of washers that go with the bolts on almost all Shimano caliper brackets as they are cheap and small but very easy to use, not the standard hardware store washers - they are "clutch" .) I recently bought a new bike and the brakes were squeaking like crazy even though they were properly "broken in". Chain lube has probably settled on…

Unique experience - see photos

I purchased this product in March knowing I would need to replace my brakes in the coming months and ended up fitting it in early August. I've been driving about 20 miles almost every other day since I installed the brake pads and last night - in the middle of traffic - my brakes failed. Luckily it was uphill and I was able to slow down thanks to gravity. When I checked my brakes, I noticed that all of the pad had come loose from the metal base and seemed to come loose while riding. I had never
