Review on 📻 USA SSB 12/24V CB Radio - President McKinley by Larry Blanco

I really like this radio so far. I bought it to use as an SSB base station and as I've been playing around with different antenna options the built in audio SWR meter is great. It has all the features one could ask for and I'm sure it will be great for mobile use thanks to the front speaker and great sound quality. The only issue I have is that the scan/squelch threshold is not as defined as other radios. There is no clear boundary between noise and silence, so sometimes the radio will not go into scan mode, or it will break squelch and stop on channels that appear to be completely silent. I also had to listen to a lot of intermittent noise just to hear the conversation, which was better heard on my handheld device with a rubber antenna. This also caused the radio to over-noise and miss some signals when I tested it with my portable device, which has a fairly accurate noise-cancellation threshold. Thresholds can vary between AM/USB/LSB, so they need to be adjusted when switching between modes, but that's negligible. However, in AM mode, Automatic Noise Reduction Control (ASC) works well on this radio, but you cannot use ASC in USB/LSB. All in all a great purchase and I hope to be able to sort out my antenna and hear more jumps soon!
