11316EVS SDS-max demolition hammer: Exceeds expectations

I don't think I've ever owned a tool that far exceeds my expectations has surpassed. I had a stone terrace of over 1000 square meters. Feet and a stone/brick fireplace/grill which I had to remove. After spending a good chunk of the day with a sledgehammer, I decided to purchase a 11316EVS SDS-Max jackhammer. I estimated it would take me 2-3 days to clean the patio/fireplace. In fact, it took less than a day (except for the garbage pickup, of course). The tool is not exactly light, but it is easy to use and easily adjustable for different grips and drill orientations. I later invested in a shovel and it proved even more useful than demolition apps. In my area you will soon find what people call decomposed granite under a thin layer of earth. You can pickaxe through this stuff (very slowly) if you hit it right. Using a Bosch chisel/shovel, I was able to dig a 10 inch deep, 4 inch wide, and 20 foot long trench in this rock in less than two hours. My brother-in-law used this in clay/adobe "soil" to dig a hole in 15 minutes the same size as one that took him 2-3 hours with a pickaxe and shovel. I also used a shovel in an unconventional way to go through a very large and inaccessible taproot of a small tree. You can also purchase an accessory that allows you to hammer rebar and the like. I installed an 8 foot grounding rod in about five minutes. All in all, an extremely versatile and well-functioning tool.

Pros
  • VERSATILITY: Variable speed tool allows for controlled chopping and can adjust hitting power depending on material being removed
Cons
  • Concise instructions
