They are a bit big for the rear of a 1999 Jeep Cherokee XJ. I had to enlarge the speaker mounts to fit. Once fitted, however, the standard grille covers snapped easily into place and the plinth protruding from the slightly larger speakers is very noticeable in a good way. I have a foosball cover but decided not to install it after hearing about the rear base upgrade. I installed a really big speaker in the front doors, but it's a bit bigger in the back and gave me a noticeable difference in bass. If you decide to do the same, be careful when enlarging the two holes on each speaker. I used a drill press and first drilled a small pilot hole. I then drilled a larger hole, which significantly lengthened the original attachment point. If that doesn't make sense to you right now, it will if you try to install rear speakers and the holes don't line up. I don't think the big speakers fit in the front doors. So I would use the properly sized kicker speakers for the front speakers.
