Do not buy. It doesn't protect your car like it should. Save your money and just disconnect the battery. I bought it based on the good reviews and decided to use it as I love restoring cars. Sometimes I have to weld and I use this surge protector religiously as I put it directly on the welder and always use it before welding. I've owned it for about 2 months and have used it about 10 times. A week ago I was welding new rocker panels to my minivan and as I was about to finish I heard a clicking noise under the hood even though the key was removed from the lock. Minibus. I immediately pulled out the surge protector, and then pulled out the negative on the battery. From now on I can't start the van anymore. It won't even tip over. I have a short somewhere in the system. So it should protect against this situation. The clicking was a relay opening and closing very quickly because something was fried in the system. It's time to get a new computer and see if that fixes the situation. But in my opinion this device does not protect as it should and my situation is living proof of that. It's going to cost me a lot of money because I believed it would do what it said it would do - protect against a welding arc. A computer in a junkyard is worth $200! So again, don't buy this. Instead, just remove the negative from the battery. It's a lot cheaper and will definitely help keep your car running.
