To be clear this is plastic with a carbon fiber pattern on the outside - it's not real carbon fiber and I wasn't expecting that at this price point. The carbon fiber print is high quality and a perfect fit. The piece is flexible enough to wrap around the door latch and slide into place. There is a tiny lip at the transition, just enough to hide my tan factory handle and create a clean line between that part and the aluminum face of the lugged door handle. This is a much better fitting product than I expected and I would recommend it as a nice visual outfit for your BMW (especially with a lighter interior as these grips always get dirty and stained over time). I haven't tried removing them, but I would suggest that if you need to take them off you have a good chance of breaking them. I'm sure a good workshop can put them on and off, but they fit just right once you put them on.
