An unexpected advantage over the old square end crankset is the Q factor (pedal width) increased by about 6-8mm which made my 20 year old Litespeed Ti bike much more comfortable. I've always wondered why this bike is less comfortable than my tandem with the exact same geometry, well that's a quality factor I haven't measured. I always thought the best racing design was the one with the tightest pedal spacing, damn I was wrong, it's so comfortable now to expose the power longer.
