Let me start by saying that I love the concept of these shoes. Typically, cloth water shoes sink when wet and offer significant drag. Simply put, it's not, it's like swimming barefoot. It's a very different experience on land or by the pool. Smooth surfaces (especially tiles, which are most often found in above-ground pools) become extremely slippery in them. During my vacation I slipped several times. I bought the shoes one size smaller than my shoe size and they stretched well. They are great in the water but be careful!
