Review on πŸ“ Mitutoyo 500 752 20 Digimatic Caliper IP67: Precise Measurements with Enhanced Waterproof Performance by Mark Gilbert

Revainrating 4 out of 5

This is the one you will only buy once.

I had about four sets of inexpensive digital calipers that more or less "worked". But batteries always die, and although they claim to read to the thousandth of an inch, the last digit is always 0 or 5, and the readings rarely agree. This is what the brand's engineers use, and it does what it's supposed to do all the time. The display is also very large and sharp, unlike some LCDs that can only be read if you're looking at it from the right angle. Accuracy is how long a battery lasts. Based on experience with many other cheap products, this is more important than it may seem. This one turns on when you move it and expires after a few minutes if not in use, and it does NOT slow down battery drain while it waits for you to pick it up next month. (The cheap ones have. Look on YouTube for this phenomenon of cheap calipers. Making calipers that work this way with a battery is difficult and expensive. I've adjusted well with the others and if I use them again after a month would like .Battery empty.almost always. That's enough for me.If you want to save money and only need to read the diameter, depth or thickness of small parts, and if 1/100 inch is sufficient, (or 1/128) use plastic DIAL calipers. They are inexpensive , they do what you need to do and there are no batteries to wear out.
