While the cover is sturdy, neither book is just right. Both have sections where the paper binding string is approximately 1/2 an inch into the page, One sketchbook has some dented pages in the back, but the other one wasn't cut right so the pages go past the cover on an angle. But for the price for 2 sketchbooks and the amount of pages is worth 3 star rating. If you're going to give as a gift, they may not be perfect but for a child, they may not care about the imperfections. Lastly it says that the pages are microperforated but it's not true, neither book has any perforations - micro or otherwise.
