This part is manufactured by several suppliers. This is my third in as many years, which is frustrating. From experience I have found that there is a design flaw that appears to result in a weak point at the left arm attachment point. Part failure can be avoided by pulling the latch to the right instead of all the way to the left [I hope that makes sense]. This is how I unlock the rear door latch on the one I have now. Another problem is that masking tape is not guaranteed to work "as advertised". I recommend doing whatever you can to ensure adhesion, ie wipe down the surface with isopropyl alcohol and a clean, dry cloth. If that doesn't help, buy 3m double-sided tape and replace the broken factory tape.
