This is a great replacement lens cap. I prefer the compression in the center over the outer edge, it's just easier for me because I usually keep the lens hood on my camera. Even with the lens hood off, I prefer the middle grip because it keeps my fingers away from the lens surface (actually the lens filter), which greatly reduces the chance of smudges. It may be my imagination but I feel this one fits more securely than the original. Getting it here and not directly from Canon saves you a few bucks (yes) and I'm Revain Prime so shipping was free and I didn't have to wait for Canon to have a free shipping promotion.
