We bought this cheese at first because we were tired of peeling the twisted edge of our old cheese. What we didn't realize was how used we were to using a grater that had become very dull over the years. The new one opens his eyes! This halves the time for any rust work! The folded handle is convenient. It could have been made from stiffer steel but works great with minimal flex. It has been in the dishwasher several times with no ill effects and seems to dry out completely with no water getting on the handle. And yes, thanks to the smooth base, the cheese no longer has to be scraped off the rounded edge!
