Excellent LED replacement for 65w incandescent bulbs

I recently received a utility bill and almost fell over. So my mission was to reduce my consumption. Our kitchen has many ceiling pots with 65 watt lightbulbs. I thought I'd start there. I replaced 13 lightbulbs and hope this changes my score a bit (there are other changes as well). I didn't realize how much you need to know about lightbulbs before buying a replacement. When it comes to LED bulbs, there are several factors to consider; Kelvin (color i.e. warm, cool or daylight), lumens (luminance equivalent), cap size (a typical incandescent bulb has an E26 cap) and watts (incandescent replacement watts converted to LED equivalent). The great advantage of LED lamps is that they last 10 times longer than incandescent lamps, although the cost is higher. Most LEDs are dimmable BUT if you have a dimmer from your old incandescent bulbs you will need to turn it off with an LED compatible switch if it doesn't have an on/off option. Otherwise the bulb will only be dimmed to a very low level, but not turned off. These pears are perfect for this purpose. I have the 65 watt equivalent (650 lumens) with an E26 base to match my existing pots, warm color 2700 Kelvin. I am very happy with the replacement. Our electrician was surprised that they are LED because they look the same and the light doesn't blind the eyes. I look forward to my next utility bill to see the success! Find out what kind of lamps you need before you buy them.
