Slight rattle/movement before towing

I really liked the idea but didn't think this would become a common problem. Replacing your hitch starts with a simple pen, and now you have to carry around a 3/4 inch wrench. The tool provided is not strong enough to tighten the screws without deformation. Pretty good torque on the bolts and it seems like your problems are solved, no more grinding. However, if you connect the trailer and pull it a bit, you will most likely find that it is loose again and sways. It would be nice if they provided the torque value of the bolts. Possibly a higher torque or lock nuts can prevent loosening. I've increased the torque enough that it's starting to flex the plate, but traction on a child's load like a camper trailer still seems to drop at the end of the ride. If you're not loose enough, someone could steal your hitch, but start rocking and rattling again. I will continue to experiment with vehicles, trailers and different torques. So far I've found it useful on small SUVs where the passengers are right next to the rumble and small utility trailers that don't have as much load working against the hitch.

Pros
  • This is great
Cons
  • Some bugs
