My old fan in my 2004 Honda Element started to slow down, start making noise (like a kid pressing a playing card against the spokes of a bike wheel) and eventually died. Was replaced by this fan. At the same time I replaced the resistor with "Beck Arnley 204-0005 Fan Motor Resistor". I'm not sure if the resistor needs this, but since the resistor has a very large heatsink that's cooled by the airflow from the fan, it could overheat. So we swapped them both out, just in case. Pretty easy to replace with just a few screws. Access opens after the glove compartment has been removed. Works very well now. On cold days I can heat up enough to turn my element into a sweaty sauna.
