We have older versions of these mugs. They held up great for years but the white ones looked dirty so I finally gave in and bought 3 purple ones. My husband kept complaining that the tops didn't hold up. I didn't realize this until one day I knocked my mug over and instead of just pouring out of the hole like my old ones did, the lid immediately popped off. Now I put the top on and pull it up to make sure they're on. It's the only way to tell. Feeling the top turn is not enough. I can still take them off because I think the top is tight. Now I have to check them every time I use them. I hope I don't forget to check that the lid is really on before I tip the next cup of hot coffee.
