When I was a wee little kid, Outliner Markers (that was the brand name, I think), were all the rage. Then in the blink of an eye - they were gone and could not be found anymore. Maybe as they were just as bad as spray paint in regards to smell (they were pretty stinky) and if they leaked or exploded - watch out!Now these are available. They have very little smell - I actually had to put it right up to my nose to smell anything - and it is not bad or strong at all. These you just shake a little - the old ones you shaked like spray paint (and they made just as much noise). I do not think it is quite a "rage" as it was when I was young but some of the guiding rules still hold true with these as well. You MUST only use these on porous materials like paper and cardboard. That is because the colored dye actually must "bleed" through the paper in order for it to outline the thick silver marker. You can not use these on anything hard - like glass, a rock, etc. - as again there is no way for the color to bleed - so you will simply only see silver marker. The opposite is true for clothing - you will not get any of the silver - but just the color will bleed onto clothing - hence you will not get the effect at all. There is way too much bleed on something too porous like cloth. So long as you stick to paper and the like you may find these very handy for some fun. Just note you should not use them on paper that is too thin or on paper without cardboard backed behind it - as the color will bleed right through to whatever you have the paper on. Same goes for greeting cards and envelopes. Put cardboard in the envelope, write on an envelope, then take the cardboard out and you will be good to go. It may just bleed through a greeting card if you write on one - so use your judgement. These were a great "blast from the past" for me!
