Let me start by saying that I research everything I buy, especially online. I received this item last week and couldn't be happier, the suction power lasts after a week. What I love about this handrail is that it has two red or green lights that let you know the handrail is adjusted properly. Red - poor suction, green - good suction. You can always look at the suction indicators to make sure it's still holding before you reach for it. I have an old 4" x 4" glazed tile and it spans 3 tiles, see photos for a perfect fit. The photos show a green indicator. I had to move it around to find the tile set it would work best on, some tiles don't have to be straight but there was only one tile set to the left of the first ones I tried. Make sure you squeeze the handrail until you see a FULL green light before clamping, half green and half red is no good. Any product of this type is only as good as its proper installation. Install it right and you will be happy. You can mount the handrail vertically or horizontally according to your needs. I mainly use it to stay calm, especially when I close my eyes to wash my hair. First clean the surface you want to install it on with rubbing alcohol and try different spots until you find the spot that works best. I recommend this product.
