I had a similar yo-yo as a child and this one lasted (from a different manufacturer). They break easily if you surprisingly use them like a yo-yo. The manufacturer sent us a new one very quickly, which also broke within a few days. These toys are junk and the manufacturer knows they are junk so they sent a replacement no questions asked. I suspect they sent out a lot of spare parts but did a cost benefit analysis and figured out they would still make money off that crap. If you drop this yo-yo, there is a very good chance it will break. And who doesn't. I bought these for my kids because they remind me of the ones I had as a kid. It's not the same, it's cheap junk, stay away from this product. These things succeed in two ways: getting your money and polluting the landfills.
