Tough with an ice ax, tuck in trousers or high socks

So the boot is tough. . It doesn't go through the sole, but metal (yes, those are metal ice axes) won't hit the ground unless you seriously wear down the soles of the boot themselves. Which, frankly, would be impressive if you did. The only complaint is that the upper doesn't compress well and is just snug enough, but not firm enough (if that makes sense) to rub against the skin and irritate or even damage the skin of the foot where the upper chafed is. So make sure your pants are tucked in or at least have high socks on. Apart from this small complaint I have no problem with them and will try to buy another pair in winter if they are still available for my child as the ice is healing. great idea. Of course, I live in a cold state in the US and I've slipped on the ice far too many times. Anything that prevents me or my family from quickly (and accidentally) landing on the ground is good for me.
