Maybe a little overkill for home use, but more like electrical components for industrial use. For the price you can't go wrong. I keep 4-5 of these because the ends of the cord are always in need of repair. I've also used a few of these attachments to create shorter gear attachments in my shop - a special use. They are easy to handle with basic knowledge. I would recommend making sure the cable clamp is securely attached to the electrical cable at the end. It is not designed for thinner lamp wires. So far, so good. I haven't had any issues with them and they seem to be durable and will probably outlive me.
