Disposable Filter

The filter was dirty and needed cleaning after 20,000 miles on paved city streets. The CAI kit claimed to be good for intervals up to 100,000 miles. After cleaning, the rubber under the yoke cracked and crumbled, leaving a gaping hole open to the unfiltered atmosphere, as well as slivers of rubber all over the intake. The rubber filter is not compatible with the filter cleaner included in my reload kit. I used a K&N kit which was the only option at my local dealership. There were problems with the support service. Your callback is not configured correctly. The guy picked up the phone after 30 minutes of waiting and it sounded more like he was just an hour late for work than just talking to another customer. They said send a photo and send a replacement. A week later a replacement was sent. In terms of performance, if you notice an improvement in your MPG, stop immediately and open the hood as the filter has likely just fallen off. You won't notice any noticeable increase in MPG or PS with the filter left on, just extra hiss at full throttle. It would be cheaper for me to pay more for a quality CAI upfront. If you choose this way, you need to roughen the CAI cone or use light glue to prevent the filter from falling off, and put tape or other buffering material between the clamp and the air filter rubber to prevent falling apart. especially after cleaning. The rubber is not compatible with standard cleaners for these filters. Looks like Specter has its own cleaning kit that you can order online. Maybe he has a weaker cleaner that's a better match for the rubber they make their filters out of?
