Pros: HUGE Easy to clean Heats up quickly (first cycle) Really good temperature accuracy (first 15 minutes) Cons: During initial setup the temperature drops slowly and NEVER recovers, this is a design flaw of the thermostat Details: Will I love it, we mostly use it like a deep fryer. It's big and makes it easy to cook up a full meal for a large family (like homemade chicken nuggets and onion rings). BUT once you get 4 quarts of oil at 350F to fry, that's the last time you'll see that temp. It will hang there nicely until you drop the first batch. After 3-10 minutes, you take out the food, the temperature is 320-330, okay, let it warm up. Well it won't. Only if you then increase the thermostat to 400 does it climb back up to 350 before it stops cycling. Then you reset the second batch and after that the temperature reaches 320 again, the operation lamp is off or sometimes turns on and does not recover the temperature by itself. Pull out the temperature controller and place it in the fridge for a few minutes. That's why it works, the controller gets so hot you need oven mitts or "asbestos fingers" as my family is calling me to get the controller out. The block uses a mechanical "bimetal" thermometer, which is good, but the problem is that the block is thermally coupled to the heating elements along with the temperature sensor. This means that once it has reached the initially set temperature, its own heat will now distort the temperature reading. You must cool down the entire control box to "reset" it.
