I needed a small reading lamp that wouldn't get in the way of my husband. After a lot of research I settled on this one mainly because it came with a travel case and it looked like it was bright enough. I don't have a headboard so I also needed one that could stand on its own if I didn't want to attach it to the book. There are many on the internet that look the same and all I can say is that I'm happy with them. It's very small and light but sits on my bedside table and I've also found I like clipping it to a book. With a hardcover book, I have to turn the brightness up to maximum to see both pages and rotate the light to cover the page completely, but I prefer this to more illumination. I've seen some negative reviews on various websites about the "click" sound to turn it on and off, but I find it very quiet - it takes a very light sleep to wake you up. The battery seems to last a long time - I wish there was an indicator to let you know when it's getting low. One night I read and everything went black!
