I got this as a secret gift from Santa for a co-worker, but first I tried it myself for things I expected them to use it for - sharp, bright light and false detection. Let me introduce myself to what we do professionally. It's definitely not as bright as other flashlights in its price range, so this product loses half a point in that regard. The UV option is bright, as is every single LED bulb, but the only thing that bothers me is its wavelength - it goes down far enough to look like black light. The fluorescent and white lights are bright, but you can barely check money and ID with this flashlight. But it works. Here he loses only half a star. But the other four are hard earned. He gets one for value. It's cheap and well made. It's durable and the combination of flashlight and UV light can't be beat for the price. It gets another one for sheer brightness when you zoom in for white light. It blinds at a distance of about 15 meters or less. However, do not point this thing directly at your eyes or others to check. In total darkness, it casts a bright spot about 150 feet forward, illuminating street signs, addresses, or license plates. It gets a star for design and workmanship. It also weighs several ounces without batteries, of which it only uses 3 AAA. It's fairly long-lasting on batteries and definitely heavy enough to use for self-defense. The switch on the bottom is heavy enough to feel serious, and the zoom adjustment assembly clicks clearly and easily. The last star is for the truthfulness of the post. It does exactly what it promises to do, and it does it surprisingly well. In summary, the flashlight is neither a serious tactical flashlight (it doesn't have a flash and isn't waterproof) nor a serious UV lamp (it doesn't detect bodily fluids or blood). But it's definitely a great flashlight that does what I've stated at a pretty good price.
