Some people have asked what these cleaning sponges are made of. I don't know how many people are willing to cut them open to find out, so I'll grab one for the team. I did a burn test to try to understand the material. The outside of the sponge burned fairly clean, the terrycloth fabric that looks like a looped backside actually contains some polyester or something, as it leaves a hard, dry, brittle piece of molten substance. The white inner sponge burned off quickly leaving a small amount of greasy hard residue that I can smudge. The product also comes in plastic packaging, so going plastic-free doesn't do well for those of us trying to cut down. I hope this helps someone.
