My impression is that this is a semi-rigid plastic that does the job it was designed for. For my cranks from this order, I bought a pair from another seller who sold the right size (small) for my cranks. However, they are all made of the same material, which is why I give five stars for the quality of the product. I have alloy cranks (small size) mounted on my Stumpjumper with Aeffect cranks. They fit well. The only thing I noticed is that the hole you put the allen key in is slightly misaligned, but the boot lid is playable enough that I was able to install it with no problems.
