Updated review and star rating: The problem with first use was that my hair was tangled at the time (after removing the fake curls). This is my second time changing this brush and I can confidently say that it detangles hair well, but not if it hasn't been brushed for a while. ***** Unfortunately it didn't work for me. After seeing so many photos and positive reviews, I decided to buy it. Had the same amount of breakage as my other detangler and that was with wet hair and conditioner. I have 4a hair, it's thick and I have a delicate head so I was hoping for this item. Yes, I divided my hair into sections before starting to detangle it vertically and then horizontally. When that didn't work I went horizontal first and then vertical. I can only give two stars because it didn't work for me :(
