Review on VertiGo Moana DVD by Fuzzhead Nelson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Five stars for DVD, one star for purchase from Revain

I really enjoyed this film. I first saw it on DVD. After buying it twice from the Revain marketplace and getting bad copies, I ended up buying it from a different seller. I've learned that genuine Disney DVDs are rare in the Revain Marketplace and should be purchased directly from Revain.com. The movie itself is amazing (spoilers): Moana lives in a world where everyone but herself is happy. As time goes on, something begins to gnaw at the perfection she's always known. Moana takes it upon herself to solve the problems of her world. She embarks on an adventure and meets Maui, a demigod who believes he is all of this and more. Maui believes everything he does helps people. Moana makes him see things differently. Together they must save the world of Moana from total destruction. Maui reluctantly agrees to help, realizing that getting rid of Moiana is an impossible task. There are two animal side kicks in the film. Like most Disney animals, they are adorable. Pua is a little white pig and Hei Hei is a rooster. Hei Hei lands on the boat with Moana and makes loud, obnoxious noises. I wish Pua was on the boat with Moiana and not Hei Hei. I was impressed with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's singing performance as Maui. I'm not usually a fan of his work. He makes a great egocentric demigod (contrary to his real-world personality). You're on Maui's side from the minute you walk in, he's so sweet. Moana is voiced by Auii Cravalho and her voice is beautiful. She makes you love Moana and be a part of her journey. I'm glad they chose the unknown Moana and not the typical actresses that are in almost every Disney movie these days. I really like the character of Grandma Moiana. She looks crazy, but she's just an aging retiree. As the daughter of a father who died of Alzheimer's, I can appreciate the elder who is "not quite himself" and feels like an outcast in the world around him. Moana loves her grandma like I love my dad. I love how the manta rays played a role in this film. This is my favorite species of marine life. The manta ray scenes are beautifully done and the manta ray looks majestic just like in real life. And then there's Baby Moana. I mean is there anything cuter? I'm sure you've seen her picture posted all over the internet. Everyone can now just say "awww" and that's it. In the end, this DVD is fantastic. The movie is excellent. If you haven't seen Moana yet, what are you waiting for? I hope they make a sequel to this great film to explain what's going on with Maui and Moana now that the world's problems are solved.
