I have had this pencil sharpener for a few years now and am very surprised at how it always performs. I am a high school math teacher. I have the unfortunate combination of endless pencil burns and immature kids who are bad at it. I've spent hundreds of dollars on good quality pencil sharpeners only to have them fail after a few months. So how does this $20 sharpener not only last for years, but also sharpen pencils perfectly? I feel like it's not the quality of the product that makes it durable, it's the brilliant design. Something about sticking a pencil in a panda's eye seems to elicit an empathetic response from my kids, and they are MUCH gentler with the product. They don't squeeze pencils with all their might, they don't sharpen endlessly, they don't shove unnecessary things into the device. you just. sharpen their pencil (sometimes they giggle when cutting a panda) and then go to their seats.
