Works, needs help along the way but could be a little better.

Nice, quiet and inexpensive (okay, cheap) plastic cat flap. It was not designed for thick "outside" doors, such as those leading from the inside of the house to the garage, but it can be adjusted. (Possibly due to "separation requirements," the building code prohibits drilling holes in a solid door between the interior of the house and the attached garage. Of course, this type of plastic revolving door cannot meet the "separation requirements" and cannot be considered "No cat wing (nor wing hole) is designed for fire (or smoke or fumes). So I strongly recommend NOT starting a garage fire! You'll need four thin and long enough screws (and appropriate small hex or locknuts) if You want to go through the door and attach both sides securely as one piece, like I did (You could have just used short screws that went in either side, but in my case that wasn't enough. ) So, to me To make it easier we took the door off its hinges (when you're older it's a lot easier than lying on the floor trying to suck (ber to cut or drill!) I've used a jigsaw to cut holes like this in the past, but have found that a vibrating (multifunctional) saw works much better. a little more precise. The extra thickness of the door does not allow the inner flange to cover the open rough opening. Rather than find another cat door perfect for thicker doors, I lined the open area between the two cat door frames with a thin strip of stainless steel-like faceplate from a broken microwave oven. I think it's overdone, but it looks very good. So this cat flap looks good enough. Calm. Functional. But after a few days my cats somehow broke the plastic cover on one side of the damper magnet. Replacing the damper on this unit is not very relevant and my poor door has seen better days. so i will probably replace the cat hatch and the whole door at some point in the future. missing area of plastic with something. Time to experiment with UV curable resins! (The included instructions mention that installing on a glass door is (I'm paraphrasing heavily) "Just cut a hole in your glass door." LOL! I wonder how many people have actually had success installing this through a door made of tempered glass?Leads I got the idea that in many countries the glass of front doors doesn't need to be toughened.A house for just one night meant the cats managed to get the fluffy sealing tape down the side and bottom of the Tear off the door. Now I have to figure out how to put it back on.
