We planted passion vine this year to provide habitat for Fritillary butterflies. Caterpillars started showing up in July, chrysalids started decorating the vines by August. It was so fun to watch a beautiful butterfly emerge from its chrysalis. Then the wasps arrived to feed on the helpless chysalids as they hung immobilized on the vine. This butterfly sanctuary has been the perfect solution. We snip off a piece of branch with caterpillars and place in water inside the netting. In just a week, we have 5 chrysalids and many Caterpillars. Take that you greedy wasps!
