Perfect replacement for 2003 Nissan Maxima

I bought this for a 2003 Nissan Maxima which of course I bought recently as a used car. We'll see if it stands the test of time, but it was literally half the price of other alternatives. For me it was one person's work that took about an hour. To remove the old hose, I loosened the 24mm banjo bolt on the PS pump, drained it completely, and then removed the bolt. In the middle of the hose I didn't remove the bracket completely, just disconnected the hose from the bracket with a 10mm socket with 1/4" drive. I recommend reusing the bracket already attached to the motor as there is little reason to not doing this, and saves a lot of time. I then removed the hose line up near the strut mount. This should be pretty self explanatory. You will need a 14mm spanner I guess to fit the end of the flange and 24mm wrench to remove (in my case I only had a 1-5/16" wrench to remove the electrical connector. Then remove the two 10mm bolts that secure the assembly to the body. Installation is pretty much reverse removal starting from the bottom by attaching the hose to the pump with a banjo bolt remember to use the new copper washers you will need 2 with this sc get hose. Note that when I removed it I had to pull the old copper washer out of the pump Then I put everything together on top before reassembling the center bracket. Again pretty obvious. The most time consuming thing is to reinstall the 10mm screw in the middle bracket as there is some room there. After fiddling for over 20 minutes I took a zip tie and pulled the brackets together to line up the screw holes and then everything was smooth as butter. After everything is collected, don't forget to fill the tank. recommended fluid and bleed the system. I did this by spinning the wheel back and forth (when the front of the car was on jack stands) with the engine off about 15-20 times and adding oil to the reservoir as needed. Then start the engine and repeat the process. This hose keeps the horsepower pump from humming, and if it lasts for less than $60, it's a great deal!

Pros
  • Pressure hoses
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model
