This pattern concept is NOT suitable for narrow feet

This review is more about the pattern concept than the yarn. I have narrow legs. When I make socks, I cast on 48 stitches. The different colored patches in this yarn are too long for 48 sts, so I unraveled and cast on 56 sts. It was better that way, but the tip of the elastic still ended up a few rows further than the required two inches. When I got to the heel section, I had to cut a few yards of yarn so I could graft on the red color that the wrap pattern said was for the heel section. Also, the instructions simply said "make a paragraph," but there were no further instructions for the paragraph, and it wasn't clear from the image what type of paragraph the designer had used. I've tried a short heel row to no avail (probably my fault as I've never done it). At this point, I was ready to toss the yarn, but I decided to just rip out a few rows of the leg and work with the heel flap, heel flex, and gusset. I grafted the last seven rows of the heel strap in red. When I finished with the red I had many more rows of red for the heel and instep than used in the picture. I didn't want to cut it out again because it looks weird and leaves a little lump in the sock. Now I put the foot down and it looks like the red toe will be way down and there will be very few rows unlike the picture. I have experience in sock knitting, I have knitted over 200 pairs. However, it is very disappointing that designers (including American ones) do not take the narrow foot into account. I wear size 11AA and hate sloppy baggy socks. That's why I knit myself and either invent my own patterns or adapt others. The yarn itself is not bad, quite soft, but with this coloring the colors have become rather dull. All in all, it was a very daunting endeavor.
