Purchased for Ford 289. Uses centering tool to push back crank for removal but does not round anvil. In any case, the diameter of the centering tool was too small to be pressed against the crank head without damaging the crank threads. So I made an adapter out of a threaded rod and a nut to pull it off. I drilled a shallow hole in the adapter to install a centering tool. The balancer released easily and smoothly with the tool without worrying about crank rotation. Haven't installed it yet but no problems. The tool seems to be quite well made. I prefer American instruments, there aren't any, but I'm not a mechanic by trade.
