These plates hold up well if hand washed, using only the forks and spoons provided, not knives. Whether you put your food in the microwave, put it in the dishwasher, or use other metal utensils in combination with plastic forks, spoons, etc., these plates and bowls won't last long. I had to throw away most of the plates and bowls after using them in the dishwasher, leaving soap scum on them that didn't come off no matter what I did. If used for outdoor camping or traveling I'd say it's fine, but for normal everyday use I'd look for something other than plastic.
