Although our bread has a hard crust, this slicer was surprisingly of little use. Not quite "adjustable"; Some of the slots are slightly smaller or larger than others, but that doesn't mean you can customize the slices differently. All slots were large enough to allow the knife to wander easily while cutting. And because of the "crumb catcher”, even a sharp tilt of the knife did not cut the slice through to the end, so the bread had to be removed in order for the slice to be finished, leaving crumbs on the table. The plastic bags are incredibly noisy and too small for large loaves of bread, which is a bit annoying. We're back to freehand slicing and the slicer goes to the local Salvation Army store.
